Hawaii Pacific Neuroscience Clinical Research Center is focused on Reducing Health Disparities in US Minority Populations

According to NIH NIMHD (National Institute on Minority Health & Health Disparities), one of America’s greatest challenges is reducing the profound disparity in health status of its racial and ethnic minority, rural, low-income, and other underserved populations.  Hawaii is one of the most diverse state and home to several NIMHD designated US health disparity populations including:

Summer Internship Program – Hawaii Pacific Neuroscience

HPN Summer Internship Program (HPN-SIP) Hawaii Pacific Neuroscience offers the largest neuroscience teaching facility in the state of Hawaii. Our mission is to give back, mentor and nurture the future of our Hawaii healthcare leaders. Since 2009, over 295 students have gained valuable experience through our program.

Why we do What we do & What Drives Our People? Our Missions:

G

GIVE back, mentor, guide, nurture others in Hawaii
Since 2009 when HPN founder Kore Liow found out that many uninsured or underinsured patients wait a long time to get neuroscience care if they even get it at all in Hawaii, we have made it our mission to devote our time and resources to meet unmet neuroscience needs especially those underserved and need it the most.  Our 50 plus physicians and associates are passionate to mentor the next generation of physicians and researchers of over 50 residents and students each year.  Being a good neighbor to those who needed a hand in our local community truly defines who we are at heart and why we do what we do!

I

INNOVATE, embrace change, monitor outcome and efficiency; continue to attract groundbreaking neuroscience research to Hawaii
in 2015, when HPN founder Kore Liow found out what a burden it was for our Hawaii's patients and their ohana to fly to Mainland in order to seek the most advance or research treatments, we have made it our mission to have brought over 100+ ground breaking research studies to benefit hundreds of local patients who no longer has to travel to the mainland and have access to the latest and most innovative neuroscience options right here in Hawaii.

V

VALUES are what HPN strives to incorporate into the community and individual lives that HPN has the privilege to care for, regardless of their ability to pay
HPN has cared for more than 25,000 patient visits in 2019 including many uninsured or underinsured and provided over 2000 state of the art neuro procedures including EEG, VEEG, EMG, PSG and others to enable our world class specialists to make accurate and early diagnosis of their challenging neurological conditions.

E

EXCELLENCE and integrity are embraced and lived out every day and is reflected in HPN’s words, actions and attitude! It is a way of life for us and how we live our lives everyday with excellence, integrity and passion, and to honor God in everything we do!

Please join Hawaii Pacific Neuroscience to partner with SHELTER to make a difference for local homeless single mothers and children

Homelessness is a BIG problem in Hawaii. Recently, HUD ranked Hawaii #2 in the United States per capita rate of homelessness. Yet, no active and complete solution currently exists to address and curb the problem. However, the recent model created by THE SHELTER, confirms that a faith-based approach using dome like structures can make a difference providing transitional housing for homeless mothers and their children.   Receiving a new start in a drug and alcohol-free environment, provides the safety and peace with which to create a strong foundation along with critical spiritual support and ohana-valued community living. With a sense of regained self-confidence, these women live each day with hope as they embark on a journey of employment and connections to affordable permanent housing. THE SHELTER model does work!  continue »
